The paintings in these series are inspired by photographs taken by the artist or images found online. They are all made up of a complex layering of minute daubs of color.

Collections

Les Collections sont de petits tableaux où s’entassent, comme un motif, objets semblables et contenants anonymes. À travers ces réalités classées de façon artificielle et boulimique, l’artiste se positionne à mi-chemin entre la représentation et l’abstraction, en offrant au regard des accumulations d’objets tout autant que des traces sensibles de peinture.
The Collections are small paintings in which identical objects and nameless containers gather in pattern-like accumulations. Through these compulsively or artificially organized realities, the artist positions himself halfway between representation and abstraction, offering to the viewer accumulations of objects as well as sensitive traces of painting.

Passions

Les Passions reprennent des images photographiques où sont saisies des expressions fugaces. La transcription en peinture semble proposer une forme de résistance à la brièveté de leur apparition.
The Passions duplicate photographic images in which fleeting expressions are seized. The transcription in painting seems to propose a form of resistance to the brevity of their appearance.

Tableaux Photographiques

Pour les Tableaux photographiques, l’artiste a choisi des images de son passé pour en explorer les plus infimes détails. Par l’accumulation d’innombrables touches colorées, il oppose au temps court de la prise de vue une lecture dans la durée de moments personnels privilégiés.
For the Tableaux photographiques, the artist has chosen images from his past to explore their most minute details. Through the accumulation of innumerable color strokes, he reshapes the instantaneity of the photographic capture and proposes a reading of privileged personal moments in a much longer duration.
